Many things have inspired me over the years, from childhood ambitions to everyday experiences.   One of my greatest childhood ambitions which I still have not fulfilled, was to design and make my own full size totem pole.
I find a lot of inspiration from the timber itself and try to leave any interesting natural edges and grain untouched, so it can be enjoyed by everyone. 
 A big part of my inspiration is the desire to design something completely original.   To do this I incorporate a mixture of complementary reclaimed materials (slate, smashed glass, mirror and rope) into the design along with the chosen hardwood to achieve a completely individual look. The Hardwoods being Oak, Elm, Sycamore, Ash, Beech and occasionally Yew.  These are all indigenous timbers and are sourced from sustainable woodlands.
